"People spend a lifetime building up their businesses and then fail to recoup the actual worth of the company when they sell hastily," says Don Forrest, Vice President of Robbinex Inc. "Very often the reason for selling is health-related problems."
"The best time to sell is when you don't have to," Mr. Forrest said. "We advise business owners to plan ahead to ensure they get full value out of their business."
Robbinex Inc. is holding a one-day, invitation-only workshop for business owners in the Vancouver area at the Holiday Inn Richmond on Tuesday, June 6.
The largest and oldest business intermediary firm of its kind in Canada, Robbinex Inc. is based in Hamilton, Ontario with Canadian offices in Vancouver, Victoria, and Windsor, and U.S. offices in New York, Ohio and Michigan. The company specializes in selling medium to large-sized private businesses.
"The workshops are one way for us to help business owners be aware of what's involved in a sale, including how to determine a company's value, the pros and cons of selling to family members or employees, and more," Mr. Forrest said. "Selling a business isn't easy, but advance planning can make all the difference in ensuring it's a positive experience."
